I am a French-speaking graduate of Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours Class 1) degree majoring in both French and Contemporary European Studies. I have six years experience as a language tutor and have taught French, English and English as a Second Language to students from kindergarten through to adults resulting in improved grades and enjoyment of their language studies.
I studied French from age 7 through to university level graduating with First Class Honours in French Language and Literature (Macquarie University), so I can help you learn French for the first time or polish your existing French language skills.
I am experienced in coaching for exam technique, of which I have first-hand experience - having received numerous academic awards for proficiency in French and English including winning the Alliance francaise national French competition with travel prize to Noumea, receiving Macquarie University's award for first place in French Language, being placed 2nd in NSW for HSC French and 10th for HSC English (TER 99.70), receiving academic awards for French and other languages each year throughout secondary school and straight A's in tertiary French major.
In addition to a solid academic background, I have a practical working knowledge of French having completed formal studies in translation and worked as a freelance translator for Macquarie
University following graduation. During a short-term French homestay I lived in France and attended French high school and as such have first-hand experience of French language and culture.
After graduation I spent over 5 years working in International Assignment Services for a Big Four accounting firm serving international assignees. I have a Masters of Commerce (UNSW) and am proficient in the use of language in corporate environments and have written for both business and government publications. As such I can bring a commercial perspective to your language studies to increase their relevance to you in the future if you wish.
In addition to my tutoring experience I have worked in education as a residential tutor at Abbotsleigh school, Wahroonga, a facilitator of corporate training rograms, and as a careers education consultant - so I have a broad range of educational experience to draw from when tailoring a coaching program to meet your objectives.
